Anyone know of any good, affordable resorts in Clearwater lake, mb? (And ones that have gift certificates). I've looked online but I'm hoping for "tried and true" responses.  
 
 
Also what is the best time for fishing? Spring/summer/fall?

Spring and fall both have exceptional fishing for trout. I have had good success for Northern Pike in the Spring (early June). The lodges that come to mind are Carpenters Lodge and Lockhart Landing.

I have always camped but have paid a docking fee at Carpenters I believe it was.

Fishing on Clearwater is great all of the time. Spring & fall are for the big trout - the master angler trophies! - but in the summer the trout gather in specific areas and it's literally one after the other. The northern pike slow down a bit in mid summer but there are always some to catch.  
 
Evergreen is open for all seasons. Carpenter's have decided to do spring & fall operations only (June, Sept. & Oct.). Lockhart's Landing is open June - Oct but do cabin rentals only (no boat rentals). If the people you're looking for have a boat, that's not an issue. Lockhart's have a boat launch right there and it's free for their guests.  
 
I don't know about gift certicates but I'm guessing that any of them would help you out. I do know that all 3 places are busy and are pretty much booked a year in advance. Good luck!
