was not with booking.com but another well known website. For some reason my reservation went through twice (I only received one confirmation). When I got to the hotel in Winnipeg they insisted that I had two reservations (first I heard about it) and they wouldn't budge on this and went ahead and charged me for two rooms. They indicated that I had to deal directly with the online booking. I spent a long time trying to get this charge reversed and I think they only finally did it weeks later as they figured out I was not giving up on getting my money refunded.
