With our dollar doing so poorly against the US Dollar was thinking maybe its time for a trip overseas. The Euro is only a few cents worse but you might get more bang for the buck. Saw a show on tv a while back on the Andalusian Southern coastal area of Spain and it looks good to me. Has anyone been? Would appreciate any tips or advice on where to fly into, economical places to stay and interesting points of interest as well as general costs.

Look for deals on Booking.com and mail the hotel itself. They mostly offer you a better price because they have to pay Booking.com up to 15%. Just book a cheap trip to Europe, within Europe you can fly around with Ryanair, Easyjet or another low budget airline. No service, but really cheap. Depends when you want to go but it can be really hot in Andalusia in summer. Sevilla, Cordoba and Cadiz are all beautiful. Just rent a car and drive around.

Haven't been to southern Spain, but I did travel to Barcelona about a decade ago. Doesn't necessarily answer your questions, but if you want to travel around a bit, a rail pass would be advised. They're fairly cheap, and you can basically travel anywhere in Spain or Europe within a few hours or a day. Previous person mentioned a car, which is better suited if you're not going too far. Also, learn some basic Spanish phrases if you don't already know any, the most important of which probably being "Hablas Ingles" (Hob-Laws-In-Glays), meaning "do you speak English". Not too sure why, but of my travels around Europe, I found Spain to be the hardest to communicate, and the most judgement for not speaking the native language. That simple phrase however worked wonders.

On a cruise last month and the ship was in euro's...I exchanged 60.00 Canadian and got 41.00 euro and found the everything to be more expensive than in Canada.

Was thinking more along the extreme southern coast landing in Malaga maybe even as far west as Portugal . I speak enough Spanish to get me by just looking for some recommendations of places to go or avoid for that matter .

I spent 2 weeks in Del Costa seven years ago. Very expensive place to holiday but nonetheless very nice. If you get a chance go to a tourist town called Puerta Banna. It has $20 million yachts all over the place and great restaurants on the harbour
