Looking into booking a trip to Orlando. Best deal for flights is sunwing. I’ve heard a few negative reviews in recent years. Have you flown sunwing and would you recommend it? (Looking at just flights not vacation packages. )

Flew to destination wedding many years ago via Sunwing. Wasn't bad. If I was to do what you are doing I would drive to Grand Forks, ND and take Allegiant Airlines and fly for probably a lot cheaper than from Canada.

I have taken sunwing in a charter flight and had no problems at all. Like anything......you never hear about all the good flights.....,only the bad situations

I would only take it if I had too. It was the worst I have ever taken. That why they are cheaper !! It will get you from point A to B though !! High point the food on the plane was actually pretty good.

I think one of the issues talked about with sunwing was that they had advertised flights as direct, but had actually scheduled a stop in the states to refuel. They don’t have to advertise the stop because you don’t actually switch planes. Just check the number of “stops”, and you should be fine. I’ve flown with them, so issues.

We flew with them from Winnipeg to Cancun. Had no problems. Flights were on time, food was good cabin crew were friendly.

We've flown Sunwing. Last time we flew out of Winnipeg to Mexico with 1/2 a plane load. On the way back they changed our flight and put everyone that was supposed to go back to Winnipeg on a later fight to Saskatoon. The people from Saskatoon said they're first flight was only 1/2 full too. Hmmm. There was a lot of confusion and misinformation about why the Winnipeg people got diverted to Saskatoon but it was obvious that it was planned from the start. In fact ever single person on the plane who reserved seat selection got their original seat assignments. After a wait in Saskatoon we all got a smaller plane from Saskatoon to Winnipeg and got back after midnight. Originally we were supposed to get back at 4 pm. It was a very long day of delays and unanswered questions. I've heard this is typical of Sunwing.

just got back last night from a Sunwing destination wedding in Mexico. The flight was jam packed. I flew out of Regina nad went directly to Mexico but the flight started in Edmonton with 52 passengers and stopped in Regina to fill up the rest of the seats. Seating options were limited for the Regina passengers. There was also a mistake in one of our tickets and they wanted to charge for a checked bag which was supposed to be free. The folks from Edmonton were upset as they were told they were on a direct flight. The staff did the best they could but with so many people and line ups for the washrooms, it was impossible to get up and down the isles with service. We were at the back of the plane and by the time they got to us, most of the food options were sold out. I was not impressed.

Most charters run with older planes and minimum crew to save money and the passenger may be inconvenienced, but , hey it cheap flying.

Only flown once with sunwing (package charter to a sun destination). It was fine but have had heard many stories otherwise (direct flights that stop for "gas" and extra passengers).  
 
Allegient was fine but be warned they seem to charge you for a seatbelt, oxygen, and to use the bathroom. Okay...kidding...but watch as they charge for everything. To Florida the fly not into Orlando but Sanford which is about an hour from Orlando so for our really early am departure we had to leave our condo around 2am. In hind sight I would have just paid the wee bit extra (with exchange really wasn't a great savings, plus extra gas etc, hotel) and flown WestJet or AirCanada.
