Looking for help from people with interest in local history

I am currently working on the sequel to “New Beginnings” which will be set in 1883 to possibly 1888 to 1890. I am looking for two or three people who are very interested in local history and someone who is interested in general history and maybe some American “wild west” or western Canada history. It will be set mainly in Brandon and area although I am also thinking of incorporating towns in Westman, and I expect there will be traveling either west or south. I am considering putting a strong Metis connection in the story.
I am not looking for someone to do the research, I am looking for recommendations as to where to find information, suggestions, points of interest and just tidbits of news and stories of interested to add to my book. Mini facts such as what things cost at this time really adds to the story. It is very important to me to have any information in the book be accurate as to timeline and facts.
At this time I really can not pay for help, but I can promise a mention in the next book and a copy to those who can give me a reasonable amount of help on this project. I have learned the hard way not to give away books expecting help of some kind returned, and so can not give away any more at the present time. It is possble though that I might let those really serious about helping read my novel.
If you would like to check out the first two chapters of New Beginnings before responding to my request you can do so by going to my profile and follow the link on that page.
