Another Winnipeg-based event but I thought there might be interest given Brandon's relation to the topic....

Presentation:
“Needle Nurses and People Persons: A History of Psychiatric Nursing in Prairie Canada Since 1935”
This program covers the fascinating and little-known history of the pioneers of psychiatric nursing in the Prairies since 1935. Chris Dooley, a doctoral candidate at York University and a visiting scholar at the Institute for the Humanities, will present a survey of this unique field and how it acquired its distinctive identity. The presentation is based largely on the oral histories of Registered Psychiatric Nurses who practiced in Manitoba and Saskatchewan from the late 1930s to the mid-1970s.
