The Edie House 7th April 1882 - ?
4/7/2009 at 7:50 AM
This fine Hotel was located on Pacific Avenue directly opposite the C.P.R. Station. It was first opened to the public for business on or around 7th, of April 1882 by Mr. Charles B. and David Edie. It measured 30 x 50 feet, had three stories, and was one of the finest buildings in Brandon. On the first floor was the office, bar, billiard hall, dining room, kitchen, and other household arrangements, while the second and third stories were fitted for dormitories, with two commodious parlours in the former, and the hotel throughout was furnished with the utmost care for the comforts of the travelling public. In attending to the wants of the guests there were some seven hands employed, who did all in their power to make this Hotel as comfortable and convenient as any in the Northwest. This establishment had accommodations for 75 guests and was expected to increase to help with the extra travellers using the new C.P.R. Station.
