On June 11th 1881 the first Auction Sale
6/11/2009 at 7:16 AM
of Lots in Brandon took place. The highest Bid of the Auction was around $350.
Mr. John Dickinson from New Brunswick, who later kept a Store, was the most calculating buyer.
His plan was to own something in the Business centre of the city that was touted to out distance Winnipeg.
He was able to secure the corners of Seventh and Pacific Avenue, Ninth Street, and Rosser Avenue, and Twelfth Street and Princess Avenue.
The Lot on Ninth and Rosser was a great buy because it became the Hub of Brandon after the Railway Station was moved west from Sixth Street to Ninth Street.
