A Canadian Pacific Railroad Branch Line Train left Brandon for Plum Creek, comprising of eleven Box Cars ten of them were empty. On that same day, seven Great
Northern Central Railway coaches arrived here to be ready for a time when they would be needed to serve settlements Northwest of the city.
The wheels and the plans of the Railway became paralysed when the raging elements of winter gave battle across the country giving Brandon and other communities temporary isolation. The construction of the Iron Horse rails did not resume until the end of April.
Note: The mouth of Plum Creek runs into the Souris River, at first the town was named after the Creek but very early on, the town was renamed Souris
