Glen A. Hanlon, (Red) was born on 20th February 1957 in Brandon MB.

He first played as goaltender with the Brandon Travellers in the 1973-74 season, then with the Brandon Wheat Kings, and back to the Brandon Travellers 1974-75, and then to the Brandon Wheat Kings in 1974-77.
In the 1975-76 season he played in the Memorial Cup for the New Westminster Bruins, (WCHL) loosing 7-3 to the Toronto Marlboros (OHA) at Kitchener, Ontario.
He turned pro in 1977-78 with the NHL Vancouver Canucks. He also played with St. Louis Blues, the New York Rangers and Detroit Red Wings over his 15 year NHL career. His uniform number was 1.
He played 477 games in the NHL, recorded 16 shutouts and had a 3.60 GAA. He retired from Pro hockey in 1991.
He was the head coach for the Belarus hockey team.
He is a former National Hockey League goaltender, and a former head coach of the Washington Capitals.
It is notable that he allowed Wayne Gretzky's first NHL goal on October 14th 1979.
