The Motorman was a young man from Brandon: his name was Thomas Boden, and Mr. A. M. Oglesby was the Conductor.
After the Car left its moorings at 11.29 a.m. at the old Fair Buildings precisely, it proceeded to Victoria Avenue where it stopped to pick up Alderman McDonald, and twelve other passengers.
The Streetcar proceeded down Tenth Street with its bell clanging and the crowds staring, several horses, and a water cart team had to be restrained.
They turned the corner on to Pacific Avenue without mishap, but at the Eighth Street corner the front wheels jumped the curved track.
Motorman Boden manoeuvred his car back onto the tracks, and proceeded uphill to Princess Avenue, and on to City Hall.
In all forty-nine officials and invited guests, among them newspapermen and old timers made this inaugural journey.
