On July 26th 1978 fifteen people were inducted onto the Ag. Hall of Fame,
7/26/2010 at 8:05 AM
and also tribute was payed to the Pioneer Women of Manitoba.
The Manitoba Agricultural Hall of Fame was established in 1976, to acknowledge persons who have made a significant contribution to the welfare and improvement of Manitoba agriculture and to a better way of life for farm families.
Based in Brandon, Manitoba, it is governed by a board of twelve directors.
Over the years the Gallery of the Hall of Fame has been displayed at four locations.
The first was at the Heritage building of the Agricultural Museum, then it went to the Pioneer Room of the Keystone Centre in Brandon, and then to the Dining Hall of the Agricultural Extension Centre in Brandon, but because of the decrease in the use of the Agricultural Centre for large meetings, and the closure of the Dining Hall the present home of the Manitoba Agricultural Hall of Fame Gallery is on display in the Keystone Centre in the hallway outside the Manitoba Room.
The latest inductees were honoured on Thursday July 15th 2010 at the Glesby Centre in Portage la Prairie, and were:
Cam Brown of Winnipeg
Anton (posthumously), and Adeline Chorney of East Selkirk
Doug Fletcher (posthumously) formerly of Carman
Hugh Jameson of Brandon
Jake Schulz (posthumously) formerly of Grandview.
The President of the Agricultural Hall of Fame is Mr. Bob Roehle
