Scanning Manitoba Small Town History

This was posted before the big crash. i just wanted to put it back it since it's as much a PSA than anything. A real good project....
I read about a great Manitoba Historical Society project.
They are in the process of scanning the 1,000 or so small town 'community history' books that have been published over the decades. Once done they will be put online with a searchable database.
So far they've scanned 20 and expect the project to take another 6 years or so, depending on funding. To read more, see this article in the Altona Echo.

The story concludes with: "If you have a copy of a local history book, or know of a community that made one, the MHS would like to hear from you. Contact Gordon Goldsborough at (204) 474-7469 or e-mail webmaster-at-mhs.mb.ca"
If you are looking for a copy of one of these books, or are looking to get rid of one, the Local History Room on the 3rd floor of Winnipeg's Millennium Library has a number of them in their collection.
