What happened to Joey's Only?
Last week my husband and I were in Brandon and decided that we hadn't been out to Joey's for a long time, so we went for lunch. What a mistake.
When we walked in and were waiting to be seated, their special was advertised at the front desk. Two pieces of fish and chips for $9.99. Sounds great, just what we want.
We were seated and asked for the special. We were informed that they "didn't have the right fish", so they could give us a three piece fish & chips for their two piece price of $16.75.
Next, they bring us our forks and knives, wrapped in a kleenex. I asked if they could bring napkins, and they brought an entire box of facial tissue. We noticed that every other table already had a box. Not napkins, but tissues for blowing your nose.
When our fish came, I asked for ketchup for my fries. Nope. They ran out of ketchup, in the entire restaurant, the day before. There was no ketchup. How do you completely run out of ketchup, when there's likely a dozen containers of it, all at once?
We ate our meal, paid, and left. Just before we left we heard another customer asking why he didn't get charged the $9.99 for the two piece fish & chips. I'm guessing we weren't the only unhappy people that day.
I won't return to this location. It saddens me, because it used to be one of my favorite places in Brandon. I guess times change. I just wanted to warn others. If that's how they run the place, what's it like in the kitchen?
