What is your most loved~ Dogeared~ splattered cook book

I want to buy some new cook books, as I have found that the ones Own and have used are mediocre at best.
Yes I too blamed myself until other chefs-in-the making here have attempted them.
"Company's coming" are terrible
I have been recommended America's test kitchen & The new recipe book....
Anybody tried these?
