Anyone that does a fair amount of driving in the City is well aware that Wendys are going through some significant renos (picture #5 in the right-hand column was taken about a week ago).  
 
I was curious what they were up to, why, etc and asked a few questions that I thought others might be interested to know the answers to as well....  
 
The project was by no means mandated by the franchise, local management decided that it was time to go with a more current look. I didn't realize it has been this long, but Wendys has now been in Brandon for 23 years.. all 23 of course with the same look. The updates also make a lot of sense in light of recent modernization of McDonalds' local presense.  
 
When a franchisee decides they'd like to renovate, those renovations must conform to franchise specifications. In this case they were given two options and chose the one that we're currently seeing built. I'm trying to track down a pic of a similar new Wendys to get a proper idea of what the finished product will look like. If someone can beat me to it, by all means post.  
 
It's a pretty ambitious deadline and there are no guarantees, but they *hope* to have it completed in time for the Memorial Cup in two weeks. Over that time operations of the restaurant inside will see no changes. There's a slight chance that the drive-in might be effected for one day, but they're doing everything they can to minimize any drive-in disruption that might come.  
 
The same owners also operate two Wendys in Regina, neither of which are getting these updates right now. One of the two in Regina has however recently done interior renovations.  
 
Looking forward to seeing the finished product.. because of the intersection it's at, the property in my opinion is one of the more prominent and noticable in Brandon.
