Clancy's on Princess - Barnacle's In The Making But Better?
3/3/2007 at 4:05 PM
My wife and I love food, and no doubt enjoy trying different restaurants. We’ll try anything once. Question is, are you looking for somewhere different to dine? Not so commercialized? Well, we found the place for you.
Once again no one paid me for this testimonial, this is based on our personal experiences while dining at different locations here in the Wheat City. Big or small, we try them all.
Today we tried Clancy's. If you liked the old Barnacles then there’s no doubt you'll enjoy the "NEW" Clancy's on Princess.
Had lunch there today, met Betina Roberts, friendly and outgoing (wife and business partner of Corey), her waiter in training Joel, and had the perfect lunch. Even with Clancy's being under renovations, it didn't stop the kitchen from serving some great food.
Prices on the menu are reasonable with lunch running around $16 for two of us with beverages.
Had a good conversation with Betina and she described the changes that are currently in the works at Clancy's. I'll guarantee you it will be the place to go if you miss Barnacle's or just that genuine neighbourhood pub in general. They're currently changing the menu not to mention the front area into a two level front dining area but are still open for business. A winding staircase is in the works to take you to the second level for a casual to fine dining experience. Other changes in the works are the drop ceiling is coming out in the pool table area, restoring it back to the original wood ceiling, with an open feeling. Front entrance will apparently be double oak doors when reno's are complete.
For those of you who hesitate to enjoy many of the great food locations in the downtown area, check this location out. You won't regret it. Our rating is “We’d definitely go there again”.
