As most people know the fruit trees this year have yielded bumper crops (my dad would have said there is a hard winter ahead) and I am overrun with apples. I could really speed up the prep job by buying a peeler so was wondering if anyone has seen them in any stores.

Canadian Tire has them Walmart and Stokes (should) have or had them, as I've been thinking about one as well.  
 
The metal ones seem sturdier, but there are some Canadian Tire reviews. Might be worth a call to Stokes, as I'm not sure theirs are just online shopping or if the Brandon store has any.

Lee Valley has them. I own one and I have hooked up my cordless drill to it, 5 seconds an apple. Pealed, corded and sliced.

Home Hardware had a couple of different styles when we were there last week..
