Grapes from my yard

I picked a whole bunch of grapes from my yard and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of grapes they are. I have put pictures of the grapes in my profile. I was also wondering if these grapes could be used for baking.

Nice haul!
Don't take this as gospel (always have to be a little cautious with mystery fruit), but just going by what I can make out in the pic they look an awful lot like Valiant. To have a little better idea would ask for a pic of the vine but guessing the leaves are pretty much done by now.

If they are Valiant, they make awesome juice and jelly and you should be able to substitute Concord grape recipes (similar taste). Only asterisk being you have to deal with all of the seeds that are in them. If you run into a need for cheese cloth, dollar stores sell it on the cheap.

When I've worked with mine it's been in early September. Maybe someone with more experience in harvesting later in the season can give you a better idea, though did pick a bonus one off the vine the other day and it didn't taste half bad!

Identical to mine. I have lost the information cards that came with them but I made some really great jelly out of them this September.

I used the electric juicer as I am -well lazy-when it comes to jelly making, and made up the jelly right away, but I am told you can make the juice now and freeze it for later if you don't feel like doing it all at once. It sure cut down on the work. I have had quite a few compliments on the jelly too, it must have been a good year for grapes.

The grape bunches on my Valiant grape vine were much more tightly clustered. I suspect they are Beta grapes. https://doubleavineyards.com/beta

Now I am really not sure.....mine look like a mix of both of those pictured. I had both the tight, heavy bunches like the second picture, and some stragglers like the valiants. This is only my second season with them, and this year was a huge year - they just exploded.

Sadly I bought them from Patmores, so I can't go and ask them. Hopefully one day I come across the tags from the plants. I always keep them, but for some reason they have gone AWOL.

Beautiful! To me, they look just like the concord grape variety that I had growing on a vine just like yours, when I lived in Winnipeg. Tasty grape for the jam that we used them for.

Out of the two types mentioned so far in this thread, time of ripeness looks to be quite different. Valiant is early Sept, Beta sounds like it's early Oct (so pretty recent). When would you say hit ripeness?

In the past I have relied on the experts at Green Spot to identify unknown fruit.
