Any opinions on where the best place is to buy salad fixings / green produce / fresh vegetables on Saturdays right now? I find Walmart produce lasts only a day or two before turning bad. I haven't been happy with SuperStore, the selection is always seems to be tired with little selection on Saturdays. Would like to learn opinions on Safeway, Sobey's, Co-op, etc.

I usually shop at Sobey's by Canadian Tire on Saturdays. The produce is good and fresh. I've sometimes been there early enough to see them stocking fresh produce in the morning, before 9.

I personally like Superstore's produce best. Maybe it's that I usually shop in a weekday morning they are re-stocking when I am there. Admit I have been in the later evening and often little selection then.

Safeway has the best produce in town....

go early! IF i do any grocery shopping on the weekend, which i often try to avoid because its so busy and little selection due to it being so busy, we go in the morning before 10am. Theres not many people out to pick over everything yet and you can find some really good deals  
i find Sobeys south has the best fresh produce in Brandon, safeway in the corral centre is good too but I've noticed since Safeway+Sobeys joined together, Safeway has less stock and a few less options than Sobeys but it beats Walmart produce in my opinion. Superstore is hit or miss over the winter and almost everything is imported from Mexico.  
Sobeys has a lot more local + canadian products. Even theyre cucumbers are green house grown in Canada usually over the winter and taste so much better!

it depends on when you shop but i like super store, there produce may look a touch beat up but it is because they dont spend the time grooming it like sobeys does, that works for me because by the time i get it home i have to peal the outer layers off anyway so if the store does it then i do it i dont have much left, I also find it a good thing when a store is out of fresh stuff, it does suck if im late and needed it but it tells me they dont carry old stuff, imo that is walmarts problem, they are over stoked in produce so by the time it gets from mexico (which all stores do) then they rotate their stock for a day or two then put it out, its almost to its expiry date

I also vouch for Superstore. It's usually the freshest and least expensive - precise because there's less grooming and the store is busy so it turns over quickly. I've been doing my shopping mid-Saturday afternoon lately, and besides the store being a zoo I've been really happy that most things are in stock on the produce side. The only exception seems to be the bagged broccoli.  
 
But yeah, the earlier the better. I think Superstore gets it's weekend stock Friday morning, so Friday just before noon is actually the best time to shop for produce IMO. It's also the start of the new sales flyer, so things aren't out yet.  
 
Safeway has nice produce but it costs close to double what I can get at Superstore, based on our eating habits. I find Sobey's produce is usually lack-luster, and unless it's a screaming deal, it too is expensive.
