I am hopping someone can help me..for years now I have been buying frozen pickerel from a truck that comes from gimli to brandon (it is sold legally) They usually come every couple of months with a 1/2 ton and a trailer with a couple of freezers with the frozen pickerel . I have misplaced their phone number and email address. Does anyone have their phone number or email? thanks

Careful buying from Gimli. They sold me European Zander cheeks instead of pickeral (walleye) cheeks a year or so ago. The packaging was labelled as local when in fact they were from Kazakhstan. If you know anyone around Swan or The Pas they sell pickeral by the pound, prices are good and you can guarantee its locally caught.

Try having a look at Brew'd coffee shop on the corner of park and 13th(?). They carry Dawson Bay Fish, right from Lake Winnipegosis. These are the same that I get from Swan River and they are around $10 a pound for a 5 pound bag of pickerel fillets, you may be able to get cheeks and pike fillets as well.

The business on thirteenth and Park is $15/lb. I've bought there three times and twice some of the filets were freezer burnt. The fish is good just inspect it closely.
