Why does American Idol suck?

American Idol returns with new judges (Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler), a new look and producers hope new viewers. Producers admit they have struggled to produce bonafied recording stars like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Chris Daughtry. Richard Rushfield, writer of "American Idol: The Untold Story" says mentors and judges mean less that superstars who are diamonds in the rough. Considereing the biggest star to be plucked from obscurity and thrust into super stardom was Ted Williams, this is going to be interesting, or not. Is a great voice enough to become a star? Or is it more the looks, the voice, the dancing....?
