16 feet

I moved a building (a quonset hut) a decade back, and the Manitoba Hydro lines are supposed to be a minimum of 16 feet over the roadways, although the linemen will generally try to make them higher than that. In my case the building with the dollys underneath were around 19 feet. You will want to get a permit from Hydro to move the building. They will scope out the route, and measure the heights. In my case, a lineman came on the first trip (I had broken the building up and was moving it in four sections). He warned me that if they had to lift a line, it was $50 a pop. There was in fact one line that came quite close, but at the last second it slid over the roof. At the end of the first trip, he told me that I would be fine for the other 4 trips, and just stay to the side of the road on the one line that was close. The original fee I paid was $200, but since the guy only came out for the one trip, I ended up getting most of that back. It was the best $50 I spent. Hydro lines can and will kill, and as well, if you do damage them, and do not have a permit, hydro can make you pay for the damages.
I went to the hydro building that is near the dump on Victoria. Not sure if they are open to the public during this Covid crisis.
