all direct injection cars have problems with the oil getting diluted, its because of how light the oil is in the cars aswell as the operator never getting the engine up to operating temperature to evaporate any moisture in the engine oil which will build up over time, all cars have gone to synthetic oil and synthetic oil attracts moisture.
the 2013 that garyvehicle has would be a 2.0 litre engine, they now use a 2.5 litre engine so it has more power.
all the other car manufacturers that have gone to direct injection are having the odd car happen to get moisture in the oil so no it isnt an only mazda problem.
Every driver is different and aslong as you get the engine up to operating temperature and take it for a boot down the highway once a week you wont have any problems (just like you should with any car new or old really).
Ive owned 2 skyactiv cars and had no problems with either of them. very sporty and fun to drive. 5 year unlimited mileage powertrain warranty is a plus too on the 2015 and 2016 models so there isnt anything to worry about. the crv is only 5 year 100,000km.
Im not going to lie to you, I do work at the mazda dealership, but we do not see very many cars with the oil being over full, we also dont see very much warranty work done on our new cars, neither does the honda dealership. Imports are very reliable cars but whichever brand you choose to go with I just hope you are happy with your decision
But i would head over to the mazda dealership and talk to one the salesmen TJ Duncan or Ken Dunkley and take a car for a drive. and then if you didnt fall in love with it you can go to the honda dealership (its next door) and talk with Don Ramsey or James Cracknell and compare the two cars. I personally like the fit and finish and drive of mazda vehicles but whatever is in your price range and whatever you feel comfortable driving is what you should go with
