First things first I'm not asking for sympathy just answers.So I got into two accidents last year about a month apart from each other not long after getting my license and I had to attend a novice driver course now this past month I got a speeding ticket (123 in a 110) when passing a vehicle and got a notice in the mail saying they may suspend my license I have a show cause hearing next week and would like to know what to expect and what the chances are of having my license suspended, and if it is suspended is it worth trying to appeal it.

Take your punishment, do better in the future

I had one when I was 17, went in talked about how I learned my lesson about how speed kills and sounded sorry.  
 
Didn't lose my license but was put on a 6 month probation. Where if I got another ticket I would lose it.

Likely not going to get a solid answer on that, what happens at the hearing will probably be the defining factor. If it get suspended chances are it would just be short/med term 30-90 days sort of thing, it would probably take longer than that for an appeal to even get processed.  
 
2 accidents and a speeding ticket, that's going to be a pricey licence renewal.

I believe the only highways in Manitoba with a 110 km/hr speed limit are four lane divided highways. As such, a person shouldn't have to exceed the speed limit to pass another vehicle. Unfortunately for you, you were speeding - normally the police will allow 10 km/hr above the speed limit - and you got caught. My sympathies.

I just re-read you post - didn't mean to mock you with the ``my sympathies'' comment - just expressing that I understood your concern about this situation. I have a friend who was caught doing 140 on a motorcycle near Alexander a couple of years ago. He is over 60 years old and had a spotless record. He was suspended for six months in court and show cause only allowed him to drive directly to and from work for the six months. It's tough to figure out what they'll do until they do it.

So this friend of yours drove for 40 plus years, without any kind of infraction, and then lost their license for their first ever infraction, which was a speeding ticket? Doesn't make sense. I don't even understand how that would end up in court, or a show cause hearing.

50 over the limit is an automatic ban.

Says he was doing 140. Probably should have just been a hefty fine but some judges will and can make an example of people.

That if I have my license suspended I'll have no way to get to Brandon and being a single mom with two young kids who lives half an hour from Brandon in a town with nothing it's kind of mandatory to be able to drive, do you think they would take that into consideration

When we took our bus driver's inservice, I believe the guy from safety services mentioned that when drivers get infractions...taking initiative by contacting safety services to deal with things was the best thing a person could do. Basically the outcome was not as "severe." I'd never even heard of this and I'm not familiar with this myself. Perhaps this can help? Best of luck.

Be very humble at the hearing and be very careful driving if they don't suspend your license.  
With the graduated licenses you have a long probation period.

Two at fault accidents and speeding at 123 km/hour with kids. Sorry to say but a lot of judges won't have a lot of sympathy. It might even be worse for you it there were kids in the vehicle.

may take your situation into consideration.These hearings can go either way.Hope you get a pleasant mpic adjudicator.Best of luck.If you do get suspended ,you can appeal to the license board.Cost is over 100$,and they will reinstate your license until your hearing..Will need work or some other very good reason to get a conditional license from appeal board.Had someone i know go through this,,

I have heard this too, and maybe a good way to go for the op, be proactive and sign up for a drivers course and be humble and apologetic when yoyu speek to them and hope for the best

Have either of my kids with me for either accident or speeding ticket and the second accident the other person was sitting in the middle of the highway with no lights on in the dark and by the time I saw her i didn't have time to completely stop and they took off before there information could be taken that's why mpi considered it at fault

Your license will be be around $1200-1300 next year, if all these accidents happened in your license year (mine is May-May) and you'll get -13 demerits.

Sounds like you need to go through re-training. I have had my license for over 16 years and I am careful enough to never had an accident, zero speeding tickets, not even a parking ticket. You NEED to go back to drivers ed because you are clearly not ready. A drivers license is a reponsobility not a right.

If you hit someone in the middle of the road with no lights on you are overdriving your headlights. What if it were a bale of hay off a truck or a cow or even a child. You have to be able to see where you are going. I don't think driver education will do you much good, you need to change your attitude.

found that course useless. The instructor talked talked and talked so at the end of the day over he didn't have time to cover the drinking and driving section.

I've had my license suspended. It's not as bad. I was honest at the show cause hearing. I actually had 2... stupid mistake. At the first one he said if he saw me again I'd lose my license. 2 weeks later... he asked me both times why I shouldn't lose my license. I was honest (especially the second time) and said take it. You told me you would. He let me off with one month instead of 6. I found the courses helpful. Driving, especially in brandon, you have to be more alert

I've been driving for a lot of years and have been lucky not to have had an accident, yup I used the word lucky when talking of accidents. There are some accidents that are completely beyond the drivers control especially when two vehicles are involved.  
 
Most of us reading your comments understand the problems you may face because of the accidents or the speeding ticket, but I'm sort of the opinion of another poster on here, the 110 speed limit is on a divided hiway, and arguing that you needed to go 123 to pass someone could be looked at as excessive.  
 
At my age I'm still learning lessons, I'm still learning that mistakes can cost money, or affect the way I live. In your case the rules are defined which should make decisions much easier.

if they let you off with a warning, will you have learned your lesson? or will you still take those little chances that you think you might get away with?

Your post on your accident about hitting vehicle sitting in dark on hi-way and then they took off, they found you at fault for that. I would fight that decision and ask mpi how are you at fault. They were sitting in the dark on a hi-way then ran off. That is ridiculous to find you at fault and makes no sense at all. Hope everything goes well,good luck.

Depends on how many merits or demerits you had to begin with, if you were at 0, (assuming you weren't going 30km/hr over the limit) a speeding ticket gives 2 demerits and would mean you just pay $100 now.
