Public Works Seasonal Equipment Operator
THE RURAL MUNICIPALITY OF WHITEHEAD is seeking applications for a Seasonal Equipment Operator for the 2026 season from May to October. The position?s primary responsibilities involve operating a tractor with mower to completing the rural ditch mowing project for the season. The candidate will be required to operate on occasion other municipal equipment including, but not limited to, a backhoe, truck, flat deck trailer, skid steer, as well as undertake general labour tasks as required.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Working knowledge in the areas of road maintenance, construction and repair, as well as rural drainage infrastructure
- Ability to operate heavy equipment (ie. Tractor, Backhoe, Grader)
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
- Ability to work effectively in a small team environment
- Mechanical aptitude considered an asset
- Availability to work split or evening shifts during times of inclement weather, or as needed to accomplish tasks
- A valid Manitoba Class 5 Drivers? License
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills
- Experience in small municipalities performing a variety of public works functions is highly desirable
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operation of tractor and mower for rural ditch mowing
- Green space maintenance in urban and rural areas of the municipality
- Perform regular service and maintenance of vehicles and equipment and complete service logs
This is a seasonal position with duties to begin May 1st
