If you are an Assiniboine student looking to gain valuable work experience this summer, then we would like to hear from you. We are looking for students that are self-starters and can run with assignments independently. You will become part of a team for the summer where you will gain valuable work experience through a variety of projects, working along side our teams.

 

Creative Co-Lab Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily operations of the Creative Co-Lab makerspace
  • Set up, monitor, and maintain equipment including 3D & large-format printers, vinyl cutters, laser engravers, etc.
  • Help prepare materials, load media, and complete standard print/cut workflows
  • Support users, assist in organizing workshops, demonstrations and community engagement activates, and help maintain clean, safe work station environment
  • Assist in preparing training content and simple user guides
  • Perform basic administrative tasks suck as booking, tracking equipment use, etc.

 

Radio Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Host daily shows on the college radio station CJ106
  • Write and broadcast news bulletins for the community
  • Coordinator and train station volunteers
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and respond to off-air emergencies
  • Manage the station?s social media presence

 

Funding Requirements: This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs grant, which requires candidates to meet all 3 of the following criteria:

 

  • be between the ages of 15-30 years of age (at the start of employment),
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person whom refugee protection as been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment; and,
  • be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.

 

 

International students are not eligible participants. As the objective of the CSJ program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student's time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.

 

International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.
