Shopping online; afterwards tons of solicitor phone calls

I was looking for a couple of antique parts online. The next day after my online purchase, I have easily been getting 30 calls a day. It is ridiculous.
How can you purchase something online, without giving your phone number and getting bombarded by solicitors?
My call display rings for a long distance call, and it shows a local number. I almost want to rip the phone off the wall. Unfortunately work and my family have to get a hold of me.
What can I do ?
