Computer Question

I have owned my computer and the system that came on in (Windows XP) for quite a while now. Yesterday when I started it I get a message on the screen that says " You may be a victim of software counterfeiting". To fix it they send me to a Microsoft website where it says " Validation failed". Any suggestions? What is going on?
