Just wondering if anyone else is having problems upgrading from windows 7 or 8 with their reserved free version of the windows 10 upgrade getting stuck at 32% download? I have now been trying for 5 days with no success. The second time I let it download for 3 days hoping that it might pass the 32% mark but did not. I'm so frustrated to the point of running to Best Buy and buying an Apple IMac all-in-one computer. I have read so many reviews & suggestions from people that have had the same issue with it being stuck at 32% but I'm not about to disable programs on my computer for fear that I will not get back my previous Windows 7? Any thoughts out there? Forgot to mention that the error I keep getting seems to be a server interruption....could it possibly be MTS?

I have upgraded 3 computers now from Windows 8 to 10 - all on MTS, all done within an hour and haven't had an issue with any. Sorry not much help - maybe you have something running that is bogging it down? Virus scan?

updated....virus scans were clean....Happy to hear you had no problems....although I'm upgrading from my laptop so not sure if that would be an issue.

first off DO NOT USE the pop up that windows gives you to do your update, go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 and download the media creation tool and you can download it that way to a USB stick, then run the setup.exe file. Also if you have multiple hard drives in your computer unplug the ones you are not installing Windows on, this sounds stupid but there have been reported issues with the way Windows does file management and having multiple hard drives when installing 10. I ran into this on 2 systems. Once upgraded plug drives in and you should be good.

do you know if securities essentials is still the anti virus to use and does it have to be down loaded again for the windows 10 version ? Thanks

Anyone else having issues playing mp3 files with windows media player? Its telling me the file is unsupported.

You mean don't use Windows update to windows 10. What different windows 10 and windows 10 KN and windows 10 N?Let me know pls

Updated windows 10,we have to buy windows media player. If not, we will not use it.

I upgraded from windows 7 to 10 about 2 weeks ago. The upgrade took several hours, and once completed, looked nice and sleek; however, I had performance issues. Videos would constantly lag, media loaded slow... This all may be due to my specific computer, but I did everything I could to clean up my performance and the problems persisted. Overall I found 7 to work better for my specific computer. If on an older computer, I suggest staying where you are. If it's really that important to upgrade, I'd actually recommend a new computer.

It's well hidden. Do a search for "Windows defender" under the search tab down beside the start menu. Click on Windows Defender settings that comes up. In the Update and Security window scroll to the bottom and it says "Use WIndows Defender" and it will open. I don't see where you can set a scan to run at a certain time though.

The link tab for defender will be in under the "show hidden icons" now but will disappear again when you restart pc.

So far for me it is shut down issues. I have googled the problem and it is common for HP laptops that they don't shut down properly. It is like they hang. Power light stays on and wifi light but nothing will wake the computer back up. I have to manually hold down the power button for it to shut off.

Also Windows Media Player is a POS, get a good player like VLC Media Player.

Anyone updating to Windows 10 now you will have issues, there are always problems with an OS at launch. Anyone looking to get it maybe hold off until some more new comes out, and updates to fix things. Also hardware drivers will not be 100% compatible as I have friends with that problem now. I will wait till around Christmas before I even consider to change.  

I used google chrome on Windows 7 and it also works great on 10 now.

Using the link provided you can install the Media Creator Tool and either create a bootable USB Drive or DVD that can be used to install on a different PC.  
 
***Note**** That the machines that you would install it on will need to be Windows 7 or Windows 8 in order to be eligible for the free upgrade.

why switch to windows 10. Microsoft message that says free upgrade I am not sure if it is a good idea.

More user friendly than Windows 8. If you had Windows 7 I would maybe be more hesitant but if you have Windows 8 I say do the upgrade.
