I have a tube tv & there is a black band that comes up on the screen about half way & does not go away . I called cable company they tried fixing it from their end . I'm wondering is it the picture tube going or did I push something on the remote & do not know how to get it back . Help please

The bottom half is all black? Or just a single narrow black band halfway up? If it's a big black box covering most of your screen, it could be a closed captioning setting, turned to text option. Turning CC off will fix that. If it's just a black strip, I can't think of a setting that would cause that.
