Cannot cannot to wifi

Just got a new laptop and it won't connect to wifi. Had Netset tech working on it for a couple hours with no luck either. Is it a setting I am missing? Wifi switch is turned on, have reset modem several times. Help!!

The first thing that I wonder is if you click on the wifi icon, does it populate a list of wifi signal choices, are you connecting to your specific wifi signal, or a nearby password locked one ?

There are some more in depth things that could be wrong, but I'm not great at walking someone thru the steps, hopefully someone more versed in wireless can help out here.

I am clicking on my preferred network and there are 2 other secured networks as well. Ironically, when troubleshooting, diagnotics says I have not chosen a preferred network.

Step daughter's laptop all of a sudden couldn't connect to wifi. Had to uninstall the driver for the network card. When the computer was restarted, Windows reinstalled the drivers and it worked again.

I got a new laptop. Wouldn't connect although I could see available networks.

It was beyond me but a friend looked at it and it was set to airplane mode. Fixed in a minute or two.

We're also having the same problem. New laptop this morning, shows list of available networks, won't connect. We're also with netset. Phones and other devices work fine.

how did you fix the problem

I cannot get my laptop to connect to wifi either. I can see the visible networks available. To find a solution my computer needs to be connected to internet so I have had no luck. It does state the IP address is invalid (or something similar).

Same situation, we bought a new laptop and can't get it to connect to our wifi. If someone has a suggestion, we would be grateful to try it! Thanks

The kind fellow that helped me was a tech. It ended up that my router was old, so he did something to it that made the password longer, it was 8 digits and now it is 10. Once he did that, every computer works on wifi now!
