Giving to charity
11/9/2007 at 12:22 AM
was a topic of conversation on a radio station this morning. The gist of it was that when a guy like B. Gates gave money to charity, because he has so much money it’s not (in the final analysis) a big deal because the amt given is only a small percentage of his total income. But when a average income person gives, because they have so much less money, it is somehow better? Like so what I got out of it was the poorer you are, the more you give so lower income people should give more often and rich people should keep theirs. Whaaat!! Now the middle and/or lower income class is giving so much they just might need it themselves. Also in comparison to the US, Canadians give far less, the commentator said the reason being Canadians are taxed more and don’t have as much disposable income. Well Americans have to give more because everybody there has to pay for everything themselves: everybody needs help so they (private citizens) have to help their fellow countrymen. So whatever they are supposedly gaining by not having as high a taxation system is gone anyway, so what’s the deal?
