This is partly a rant,. My granddaughter brought home 2 of 3 kittens that were left outside a small rural community in a cardboard box. One didn’t survive. I just checked out the classified ads on e-Brandon with the intention of posting them. With the amount of unwanted kittens on there, I feel like their only option is euthanasia. I have too many cats in my house now, all of which were rescues ( dumped cats). My daughter lives on an acreage & has had many unwanted cats/kittens dumped at her place. She is a very responsible person & these cats were vet checked, spayed, neutered & vaccinated at her expense. She has no more funds to take care of more so the last little kitten did not get a home.  
I have a sneaky feeling that many of the cats offered for free in the classified section may very well end up being “taken out to the country” to become the responsiblilty of people like her.  
What are your thoughts on how these people should be held accountable?

I have had more than my share of kitties dumped on me-or dumped near enough that they end up at my home. I always take them in and get them spayed or neutered. Then they have a lifetime home with me because I figure it is pointless to try and find homes for them. There are just more cats and kittens than there are homes. It makes me furious when people dump them-and believe me if I were ever to get a description and plate number of the person who dumped any animal-i would call the authorities and file a complaint. Dumping animals is against st the law. I have even had neighbors bring them to my yard and throw them out-they didn't want to deal with the animals someone dumped on them so they just passed them on to me. I couldn't prove it of course, but I know where some came from. I would respect the person a lot more if they knocked on my door and asked if I would take the animal in. (And 2 or 3 neighbors have done that too, but most won't.)

Does your RM not have an animal control officer? Ours does and if a cat gets dumped here I give him a call. They end of getting taken to the pound from there. They at least get a chance there.

My heart breaks for these unwanted animals. Some people consider them disposable and they don’t care what happens to them. Can’t be bothered to spay and neuter because that would involve taking on some responsibility. I wish there was an easy solution to this problem.

Im going through the classified for kitties trying to find two i want to adopt and save but there are so many and many diffrent cute parts about each im waiting till i know for sure.  
I wouldn't take them out and leave them. Im the person that leaves tuna out for the strays around my neighbourhood. Neighbourhood cats are just to feral to try and tame so i feed them and check on them occasionally

its too bad that with the amount of unwanted and discarded that the rm's and city wouldn't form some sort of spay/neuters being mandatory. theres way too many that are being abandoned or discarded and far too few homes. someone needs to step up with a way to combat the issue. rescues can only do so much, same as people who do their best to help what they can. imo

We also live in the country. On a major road. Many times we go to get the mail and there’s a few cats (dead) on the road.

.....all the time! Not only are they dumped but people who live on acreages who have cats/dogs don't spay/neuter their pets and then it's over run......we've had up to 10 kittens one winter show up from our neighbors (she thought it was amusing and asked if we wanted another one).......the problem is the humans who aren't responsible pet owners.....
