My pet rabbit was attacked in the back yard by the naibers two German shepherd who were wondering off lease. Before I could stop them, they badly hurt her. I tried to contact a vet by the emergency # posted on the door but for some reason it would not take a mess. I finely got through then waited 20 mins before some called me back only to tell me he does not to rabbits! In the mean time I rush to the other vet in town and also had trouble getting through. They never did call back!  
I told the police officer who DID response that there was no point in charges as it would not bring her back. At least he was very supportive to me as I was very upset. What’s the point of an emergency #?  
How come they don’t tell you they don’t work on rabbets.  
I would grade that service as minus 0!

I believe they help rabbits. Try calling them and if it’s an emergency, they will hopefully treat your rabbit. Hope it is going to be okay,

I’m sorry this happened to you, but I do hope you pressed charges as the dogs attacked something, and were off leash. I see a lot of dogs off leashes and I don’t care what people say animals are not predictable and should be kept on leashes unless in a high fenced areas. and with COVId I would always suggest googling to see if there is a city wide emergency # for vets.

The rabbit did not make it. I never could get hold of a mother vet! The other one I called never retuned the call. It was too late anyway. She had past away wile I was waiting for the calls.

I am really so sorry about the loss of your bunny. I'm sure this is really hard on you now, but like another poster said, I would absolutely press charges against the dogs' owners despite that officer telling you not to.  
 
Too many people are irresponsible with their pets, dogs especially, and it resulted in the loss of your own pet. Of course dogs have hunter instincts but it is never the dog's fault, merely the fault of the owners that failed their own dogs and you. I am truly devastated for you and I hope that you start feeling better soon. I've walked past so many crazy fenced in dogs along sidewalks that it's not funny. People need to be training their dogs properly. Maybe this will be a wake-up call to your neighbors that their dogs' behaviour isn't acceptable and maybe they should work on training.  
 
I think you deserve whatever financial compensation you can get, I imagine that they would be responsible for compensating you the amount you paid for your dear bunny.

I was sad to hear that your rabbit passed away. I hope the dogs that were running loose are caught. A very unfortunate tragedy.

I was sad to read this. I think I would be speaking to these people with the dogs.

You say that you do not want to press any charges but you should at least talk to animal control about those two dogs running loose. Yes some dogs have a high prey drive and will harm small animals but that's when the owners needs to step up to make sure their dogs cannot destroy other animals. especially people's small pets.  
There is also a concern with two large dogs like German Shepards running loose, it can make them become like pack animals and then that can bring even bigger problems like the possibility of attacking people and even small children.  
Your dear bunny had the right to be in your back yard but those dogs didn't have the right to be running loose and coming into YOUR yard.

Why aren't the vets answering their emergency calls? Heard of another person who's dogs needed help ASAP but they couldn't get an answer by calling the emergency line so they headed to a Winnipeg clinic.  
Anyone who has a pet should be concerned by this issue.  
What's the point of providing an emergency phone number if they don't answer when you need them?

My vet is awesome, but she shares weekend service with another vet clinic so one weekend when I called I got him. He did call back, but his attitude on the phone was terrible. I felt like I was bothering him. He grudgingly "came to town" to assist me and kept my pet over night. The next day when I went to pick him up they bombarded me their app and all this follow up service BS like I would now be a regular client.  
 
All I had to say was if he didn't want to work on the weekend, then he shouldn't be the weekend emergency contact. I have never been back and continue to use my regular vet.

I am sorry about your bunny - so cute. I think the vets take turns on-call. I have used after hour service twice now (in past few years). I just called my usual vet and they gave me an after hours # (the first time, it was about 5 a.m., I phoned Grand Valley Animal Clinic, my own vet clinic, and they gave me the after hours phone #, which happened to be the Clinic on 17th (they called within 20 minutes and I met them at their clinic doors right away after they called me back) second time, it happened to be my own vet, Grand Valley Animal Clinic). In fact the Grand Valley Animal Clinic vet-on-call actually answered the phone immediately at her home, at 3 a.m. (not sure if that is usual or not). Again, we met her at their clinic doors right after the phone call. Both instances we lost our dogs in the end, but they were in good hands at the end. If you get another bunny, I would maybe find out in advance, who gives "bunny care", so you can use them when getting their vaccinations etc. I know you are grieving, but also maybe phone each Vet and ask "what to heck is the protocol?" How traumatic for you. As far as the off leash dogs, hmmmmmm (not good at all). Again, sorry for your loss.

So sad. Pets are like little children. I have a young pup and weekends can be scary. If something happened I need help. If I needed emergency help would I get it?

Very sad to read what you had to go through. At the very least, report what happened before it happens to another unsuspecting little pet but mostly for your beloved pet.

I've called both Brandon Hills and Grand Valley vets after hours and had really quick call back. I'm so sorry you had a bad experience with the vet not calling back.

You must have been frantic trying to find a vet!

Please pursue this issue with Animal Control through Brandon Police Service. 204-729-2345. Push 0. That is an irresponsible owner and your rabbit did not deserve this. It could happen to someone else's beloved pet.

I have taken this to animal control. I will let them deal with this.
