Welcoming a new member to our family!!

We are in the process of adopting a dog (she's a year old). We have no other pets and 3 children. We've met her, fell in love with her, and have been assured by the owner she is wonderful with children with a mild temperment. Want to make sure that the transition will go smoothly for the dog with the change of homes, so any tips on how we can go about making the change as smooth as possible for our soon to be addition?
