Local Animal "Rescue" agency - Really?

I recently tried adopting a dog from a local rescue agency, and was declined. I jumped through and in the end wasted my time on going to meet the dog, filling out paperwork, including a vet information release form, and references, and had numereous telephone conversations with employees. Everything appeared to be good according to this agency with the exception that my husband's dog, who he has had for numerous years was snot spayed. They required her to be spayed, even though our other two male dogs were both previously neutered, and the one I was trying to adopt was neutered as well. What relevance is this to the dog we were trying to adopt? One employee even went as far as suggesting that I just take my hunsband's dog to te vet and have her spayed without him knowing or ever having to know, WOW! This group should really tell applicants before hand and state in their policy that there is no way that you will have a chance in heck of getting a dog from this place if any of your pre-exisiting pets are not fixed. This specific dog that I was really hoping to take home has now been declined for two great owners. Prior to myself, another applicant tried and was also rejected, I was told by another volunteer. No wonder there are sooo many animals in shelters that don't find homes. Great job people, Keep up the good work!!!
