It isn't just deer hunting season ... it is also cat dumping time

I am not sure why but every deer season we have the not so great pleasure of having a cat or two or three dumped off at our farm. I am sure to some people this is quite alright as of course we have a barn and the cat will have a nice warm place to stay for the winter. On the most part these cats are intact males so of course that means major fights among our own cats. We now only have males - we don't like bringing kittens into this world that are not needed - we used to keep spayed females but when the male population grew that meant more fights over the ladies. With only males we have fewer fights and less spraying.
I just want you to know what happens to the cats that are dropped here. Occasionally a cat will stay - sometimes that means a few cat fights - but more often than not we will see the dropped off cat once or twice before it decides to hit the bush (I bet there are lots of times we don’t even see the cats, they are scared and probably keep running). I will leave it up to your imagination what happens when it leaves the farm ... it will not be pretty - hopefully quick, but certainly not pretty. There are many coyotes and it is cold out there too.
So what do you do with your unwanted cats??? Please spay your females.
