We just got a 6 month old puppy on Sunday and I have not got a proper night's sleep so far. He is up basically every 3 hours, sometimes every 2 hours and he whines, whimpers, and jumps at our doors trying to get into our rooms. If you wake up you're pretty much screwed because he's just SO loud. If you let him into your room he jumps on the bed and starts pawing and biting at you. I woke up this morning at 6:30 and tried letting him outside but he refused to go. Then, my SO got up at about 8:00 and fed him and he refused to eat. We think he just wants to play!  
 
Does anyone have experience with this sort of issue? How can we get him to sleep? Or how do we get him to see that we're not going to get up every 3 hours to play?  
 
It's getting unbearable to only get 5-6 hours of sleep per night and to think that it might stay like this? Yikes!

PS) This is a BIG dog - he's already probably 50 lbs - so when he jumps at the door it's as though someone falls against the door. It's a big bang.
