Cornstarch used on dogs?

We have a wonderful 2yr old rottie/dobbie, who has developed red areas on the inside of her rear legs. I am wondering if placing cornstarch there to dry up any moisture would help eliminate this redness. Is cornstarch bad for dogs? Any comments would be appreciated.
