I beg of you... If you make an appointment with a service person, at a scheduled time, please put away your vicious miserable pets.  
Three times this past month I have had my jeans torn, and blood drawn from my legs. This has only happened a few times otherwise throughout my nineteen year career doing service calls, but it shouldn't have to happen. Jeans are also expensive...  
I love my three large breed dogs at home and, though they are well trained and friendly, I still put them away if people they don't know are coming to my home. Just a rant...

Reasonable request. I have a small breed dog, and she's super friendly and playful and will likely just lick your face and run circles around you. However I always kennel her when repair people, the landlord, delivery people, etc are coming to the apartment because A) If they aren't dog people they tend to find a highly energetic puppy annoying, B) I don't want her getting out the door and it's not their responsibility to keep her in while they're going in and out and C) she won't leave you alone until she's satisfied with the amount of petting she got so she'd just be in the way. It's not unreasonable to expect that even the least vicious of pets would be restrained while you're trying to work.

I always told my kids & still tell my grandkids....NEVER go up to a dog unless you ask the owner first !!

I know what you mean about your dog Pugmom. When we had a dog he was the same. Loved kids & liked women. Men however couldn't get near the house. I had to be home if we had repair people coming. ..

All excellent points, and thanks for posting them PugMom*. The wound I got in Hartney this morning, witch inspired me to post this, is still bleeding. And what really bothers me is that the owner never apologized or did anything about it... Even as I left I had the dog latched onto my pants, and was forced to push it off with my other leg so I could get into the vehicle!

Ridiculous, Adam78. Did you get it checked? Being a pet i would hope the dog has shots up to date, but dog bites can breed some wicked infections regardless. And braid my dog hasn't yet met a human she doesn't love haha but yeah I always lock her up anyway for all the other reasons I mentioned. It would seem like common sense.....I mean when people have workers coming to their house they don't generally let their kids run around like hooligans while they're trying to work so one would assume they wouldn't let their dog do it either. But hey, what do I know!

When I had my dog he "seemed" mean, so every time someone came over we would have to introduce him to the person, and once he realized we invited them in he was perfectly fine. But if we didn't introduce him he'd just bark the entire time they were there, kennelled or not. Everyone who's come over (Internet people, plumbers, etc) have always agreed to meet him and then he left them alone.
