Tipping dog groomer/kennel

Hi there - I am a new dog owner and will be needing to have my dog groomed every few months. Wondering if most dog owners tip their groomer? Also, do you tip them after a stay at the kennel (overnight)? Thanks friends!

Because we have used the same groomer for years, rather than tipping her each time, we give her a Christmas gift of money. I do tip for any overnight stays at our kennel of choice because our dog is quite needy - blind and requires medication. He also gets exceptional care there.

Personal choice....I always tip my groomer however I do not tip at the kennels. It's like leaving your child at a daycare....would you tip the daycare? The groomer is like my hair dresser whom I always tip.

Have a regular groomer and tip her each time. Even if I didn't have a regular and was happy with service I would tip.

Tipping, as mentioned upstream, is a personal choice. If you believe someone has gone above and beyond and believe a gratuity is warranted then give em one.

You will tip the person that cuts your dogs hair, but not the person that looks after your child.

Please read my post again.....tipping a kennel compared to a daycare.....they both get paid big bucks per day....I could not afford to tip every person that works at the kennel or every person at a licensed daycare which have (more than one person working at a daycare). I give my groomer a tip because she does an excellent job period....my dog gets groomed every 2 1/2 months not every day.

Please tell me grandmab which daycares pay big bucks?? I worked at and have a licensed home daycare and I don't make big bucks at all!! Hahahaha funniest thing I heard all day

I have a friend that is having a hard time find a good licenced daycare in Wpg but can't find one because apparently most charge $70.00 per day....who the hell can afford that kind of money nowadays.I myself 30 yrs. ago paid $15.00 a day....and for me back then it was expensive! So you must be charging peanuts.....!!!!!

I have never have heard of tipping a dog groomer, next thing you know we will be tipping the grocery clerk.

Licensed daycares haven't gone up much at all then! I charge $18.20/day. That's set by the province.

I had never thought about tipping a dog groomer. That's interesting, I'll have to try to remember that.
