So I'm pretty darn sure I found a flea on my dog last night! Tho.... I lost track of it when it jumped away!! So. I stripped the house. Bathed the dog, vacuumed everything, washed her bed. Now, I bought a flea collar but do they really work and do I have to do anything else?? I don't have carpet but I do have leather furniture so I vacuumed it and all the hard floors and baseboards. She's not allowed upstairs so I'm not too worried about our sleeping quarters. Only saw one but not gonna take any chances!

Just keep vacuuming for the next little while religiously. Along baseboards, the couch, all the little nooks. If there was more then one you'll eventually get them all (or they'll die not having a food source) you can buy powders and sprays, and other things, but if your not 100% sure i'd just recommend to keep vacuuming.

We found that our dog was more susceptible to fleas when his food was high in grains and soy. We switched his food to as much meat content as we could as we treated him and continued with it after the infestation was gone. Check the ingredients list. We found that the best one we could find to fit our criteria was PC Nutrition First.

tea tree oil can help with them as well,you can add it to there bath shampoo and use it to spritz on their bed and it deters the fleas. and the collars can work but its best to go to the vet and get the flea drops they have there, they work so much better. which is better for the pet and you in the end. the cost isn't that much and definitely worth it imo of course

Call your vet and get some flea tick etc medication. You will need it for the tick months anyway. A few drops on his neck and you are good for a month. Flea collars are poison!
