Once a cat reaches age of 1 1/2 or 2 years old what kind of toys do you buy to have your cat to play with?  
My cat seem to play with nothing other than a 3" plastic spring. I have few other kind of toys from low to high price and she doesn't play with, only look at it, investigate it then walk away.  
I have tried the tunnel, laser light, bouncing balls, feather on a wand, mouse with batteries, turbo catcher with ball.

a box, toilet paper roll. Get some cat nip and put it on the toys. Or I have a cat nip spray I bought at Wal Mart and sprayed on her toys.

did buy a cat spray nip and no effect at all.

Have you tried freshh catnip. You can normally get it at a pet store or walmart had some in their garden area earlier this summer but I would be leary about planting cat nip. Dont need to become the neighbour hood cat hangout

Going more simple? My younger cat (almost 2 years) won't play with cat toys, but loves bendy straws and the plastic tab from milk jugs. Cat nip has no effect on her either.  
 
The old guy though, loves cat nip and toy mice, as well as those honeysuckle pieces you can buy. Simon's Kickin' Catnip spray is the best cat nip I have come across.  
 
Both cats do seem to enjoy my "marinated mice" - it is a spagetti sauce jar that is filled with cat nip and then you fill with the small felt mice. It keeps them in a constant state of "marination" and you just keep putting the mice back in the sealer when the cat is done with it. My old guy is 16 years old and still loves those mice.

Go out and spend money on a bunch of cat stuff and then let the cat play with the packaging the toys came in. That is exactly what my cat did.

I had a laser that set on the table, push the button and it just goes all over, you can tilt it to be where you want kitty to play. I would put it on when I left for work. It only ran for about 15 minutes and stopped (battery operated)  
 
I bought mine at Winners, but I did see them at Home Hardware too.

I bought different one and were both waste of money, ended up selling both.  
For the meow motorized wand that I just bought at walmart today is so far so good. She doesn't play with but more like lowers to the ground and stares at it, runs to another direction and keeps staring.

My cat likes watching birds and chirping at them. I put a feeder on the other side of the window to which he sits in his tree. He sits there quite often watching the birds.

She absolutely loves q-tips. If she gets in the bathroom she will take dirty ones from the garbage can. I don't know why but she loves them. She has also adopted one of my stuffy's which is half her size. Absolutely adorable when she's running around with it. My male cat loves playing in a box and will scare my girl. He also likes pens and money. If he sees some on the coffee table, he'll knock it off to play

Dollarama has a handheld laser pointer for cats , cats love to try to get the red dot !!

been 2 days now and finally cat is intrigued by it. I will try to attach a feather at the end of the wand.

Play time for indoor cats is supposed to mimic the need for hunting.  
My cats love toys that are made with real rabbit fur and feathers.  
I've gotten some pretty realistic mice made with rabbit fur at A Pet Lovers Warehouse. They even squeak when squeezed, haha it was hilarious when my cat started chewing on it and it squeaked. He jumped back and stared at it for a couple minutes.  
I regularly spray these toys with liquid catnip to encourage them.  
I've also bought them a larger stuffed animal, so they can "kick" it like they would do to real prey.  
Paper balls, crumpled up from flyers are great to. You can also use tinfoil, but requires supervision so they don't eat it.  
And hair ties, they love hair ties. Or hair clips. And the laser pointer.
