so what is BALA??? Where are they located?? Do you have a phone number. Not all of us are informed so please educate. What does BALA stand for?

they have a page on facebook as well where the show all the animals and updates too. its a very helpful tool they say on that site to message them with an hour response rate.

I have often thought about getting a pound kitty, but the only thing is that you don't know what your getting. You don't know if they have had any issues, any needles, any disease and yet I am expected to bring the animal into my home with my others. That is my hardest part getting over, when I can adopt from a rescue and know the animal has a clean bill of health.

The pound charges less than a rescue but the animal isn't vetted either. Paying a little less and taking the pet to the vet yourself will be about the same as adopting from a rescue where the vetting has already been done.

The cost to get a female fixed and needled runs about $300 now, I can adopt from a rescue for $90 and up. But that is my issue and my opinion on what the issue is with the pound, not the location.

I have a few pillows and an old comforter I would love to drop off. Where should I take them?

Ta said "The pound, Humane Society and Funds For Furry Friends are all different rescues. Humane Society and Funds For Furry Friends rely on donations and they are a non profit organization. They also rely on foster homes. Funds for Furry friends doesn't have a kennel location and rely heavily on foster homes. You can go online for the two organizations and see what is available to adopt or you can travel out to the pound and see what they have. All three have their own board and rules they follow for adopting. All three are great to deal with! "

FFFF uses Brandon Boarding Kennels for dogs in care.

Yes FFFF uses the Brandon Boarding Kennel for dogs in care but they only rent so many kennels. Majority of the animals are in foster homes and as soon as a foster home is available they move the dog out of the kennel into a foster home. They use the kennels as a transition place for when they don't have enough foster homes.

What rescue can you adopt for $90? anywhere I have seen has been $250 and up. The rescue has to cover there costs as well and the discount from the vet is not that substantial. Again, not looking to argue this to death but I just haven't seen any rescue where you can adopt for that cheap, albeit an animal that was surrendered that has all of its vet records may be cheaper I suppose but I can't see that situation happening too often.

Neepawa's TNR has older cats for $90.0 and so does virdin's add in the cat of the month. A lot of rescues in manitoba have great adoption fees

Also Kat's Kritter Rescue adopts kittens for $90 and a small donation of choice (money, food, litter, etc). Their older cats go for $10 or $20 I believe.

It i:ncludes spay/neuter, all needles and feline tests.

I have four kittens that I am fostering for BALA.  
 
To assist with their adoption and get them into their furever homes, I am offering to help with the cost to have them neutered in late October or early November.  
 
These are the ones found in a taped up box by a jogging trail.  
 
The vet has said they are 12 weeks old. I can see nothing wrong with their ears or eyes. The only scars are on MY arms and legs as they learn to control their claws. They are fully litter trained and eating cat food.
