Has anyone used the Thundershirt to calm their anxious dog? We have a 7 year old German Shepherd/Husky cross that has always had some anxiety, but was calmer around her brother. Sadly, our boy passed away earlier this week and although she is not bad when we are home, we have found that she gets very upset when left in her kennel by herself (they've always been kenneled when we're not home, but he was always right beside her). She's actually taken to chewing the slats on the side of the kennel to open it up, which she has never done before.  
 
Do you think something like the Thundershirt will help her with this?

I use a thundershirt for storms, car rides, and the vet and there is a HUGE difference. The key is to introduce the shirt in a "good" situation. You do not want your dog to associate the shirt with bad things.  
 
if she has never warn "clothes" before, introduce it as a blanket and give lots of treats. Then slowly work up to wearing it. Use it for fun things, like walks, feeding, playing, etc.  
 
There are tons of great videos and articles online about how to introduce it.  
 
I would also suggest things for her to do in the kennel.. bones, new toys, puzzles for her to do.  
Freeze old bones with PB and treats. Keep her occupied throughout the day.  
 
No idea if this is a bad or good idea but let her go in the other dogs kennel?? maybe someone with experience can comment to that.

I did put her in his kennel this morning as I was afraid she'd make a bigger hole in hers and get her head stuck or something. Still barked when I left but hubby said she seemed to be fine when he checked on her at lunch (she usually hollers more when I leave than when he does though). We've also put a radio on in the room to keep her company.

Another option is try an old t-shirt of your own if you have one that will fit. Has the same effect as the thundershirt, with the added benefit of your own scent.
