You ever have an interview and get offered a job, however have a horrible gut feeling not to take the job when it is offered to you?  
 
What were signs during your interview before being offered a position that you thought - "I'm not quite sure I'd want to work here"?

For me, I have never had this happen during the interview. However, I have noted things on the first day that made me decide not to return.  
 
Once, the manager and the people were good (and I had no issue with the company, a local staple of the community), but I just couldn''t see myself working there for any length of time. Coincidentally, I ended up getting a job with the same company in a different sector. A job I''ve had for over 5 years now.  
 
Another time, though I made it through 8 hours, there were signs all over the place (literally, in many cases) that this was NOT a place I wanted to be.  
 
The mood of the management was good on my first and only day working there, but even so, they showed signs of how things could be. Notes all over the place reflected this attitude.  
And the icing on the cake came with a short staff meeting when the manager of this business (a food service chain) told everyone on duty that a secret customer from corporate was going to come around and check procedures. And if anyone (with the exception of me, being the new guy) didn''t follow procedure TO THE LETTER, they were fired.  
 
I decided that my status quo, despite being not great, was still more tolerable than dealing with that on a full-time basis.

Trust your instinct.

But I got tons of stories about people I’ve interviewed with wildly unrealistic expectations about the job they’re applying for and equally wild estimations of what they’re bringing to the table in exchange for these expectations.

I once had a job interview, I had a bad feeling since i stepped into the place... I got offered the job, but a lot of their conduct seemed a bit strange to me . I would have made piles of money, but my gut told me not to take it.... so I didn't. They suddenly shut down one day without any warning... there is more to the story but I don't feel comfortable sharing on social media....in short, trust your gut

It was my shortest job ever. I had two coworkers whom I adored and looked forwarded to working with. However, the co-owner and retail manager of the business were absolutely horrifying and incredibly difficult to work with.  
 
I forgot how to sell a certain product (it wasn’t something as simple as scanning the item and taking payment. You had to call another department and sell the product by a measurement -which I had forgotten how to enter into the computer-). When I had radioed someone to help, the manger said over the radio “you should know this by now. I’m not going to help you. Figure it out and don’t waste our time with this.” The co-owner came over to help me and she asked what I was trying to do, and I was explaining to her -while searching on the till what I was trying to do- to which she replied “ooooooookay, I’m going to have to call a big fat bull**** on that one. You know how.”  
 
I’ve worked retail since I was a kid. I was floored that someone would use language like that to a staff, never mind, right in front of a customer. I started job searching that day for a new job and left shortly after. They weren’t impressed with me, but quite honestly, I couldn’t be bothered to care. They showed very little respect for me so I was going to stick around and be given arsenic laced comments every day just to boost someone else’s ego. It was one of those jobs where no matter what you do, you’re wrong, you have some how wasted everyone’s time, and you have managed to anger someone over nothing.  
 
It was a very toxic wasps nest to say the least.

When the 2nd interview is held in a restaurant and the only one drinking alcohol (and drinking like it's going out of style too) is the person who will be your direct supervisor. Don't walk, run.  
 
When the interview questions include "Are you married?" and "Do you have children?" Run.  
 
When the interviewer says, "Don't ever tell my boss I said that because she'd kill me." Run.  
 
When the interviewer says, "Your job will be to help your co-workers but I don't want you to help them TOO much." Run.  
 
When the interview turns to religion. Run.  
 
When there's nepotism. Run.  
 
When the interviewer asks what you would do to tolerate a really moody boss. Just run.  
 
Never experienced anything like this level of professionalism anywhere sadly but here. It's like they haven't even tried to evolve.
