Thank you City of Brandon for fogging again last week. It worked great for us and has changed my summer around so I can enjoy it til the next mosquito craze.

I don't know when they fogged but I've noticed last few days have been great in the back yard, big thanks from me too

Wow, am surprised and concerned, about the notice of fogging was not made more public, this time around. My radio is always on, and never heard anything about fogging.  
What other way is there, to be made more aware that this was going to be done and how soon.

The City of Brandon is required to give 24 hours notice before a fogging event happens. I personally know I knew at least 24 hours in advance, possibly even more. I got an email from the city, saw it on the citys facebook and twitter feeds.  
 
I dont listen to the radio anymore but I'm sure it was likely announced on the local stations at some point.

Well sir/ ma'm, my bad: because I do not rely on emails, twitter, ect. ect. for info: Am still old sclhool, so assume this will leave me out of public info.

it's time to join the 21st century and realize that media has evolved. If your expecting to rely solely on only print and radio your going to be in the dark on many things.

The City of Brandon posts a lot on their fb pages. Fb is free to join, and you can follow those specific sites to get the news, no one will force you to follow anything else on there. I knew in advance they were fogging, so we cut our lawn Thursday afternoon, put pool cover on and prepared. They even posted when the trucks were leaving the facility to start spraying. We also know when other things are going on around our city. Sometimes people need to go looking for info, instead of waiting for it to find them.

Yep, am part in 21st century, but refuse to make electronics the focus of my life, not quite as reliable as old school, as quite evident on Friday, when Rogers went down: total panic , mayhem and frustration.  
So no need to jump cause my phone is not focus of my life,

You don’t need to get defensive. The people just told you were you could find the information that you had MISSED on your usual means of information.

I am not here to argue, just want to ake a point, that my phone and electronics isn't the center of my life and would add, people in later years, like myself still have one leg in old school.

It was announced on StarFM and BounceFM throughout the day of the fogging. I heard it a few times.  
 
I don't understand your line of thinking. If you insist you're old school I have to assume you've clocked some years, or seen your fair share of summers. If you heard older generations bemoaning someone's inability to hitch a horse and buggy, would you not scratch your head at that? Information is readily available these days and the most efficient way to find it is to know where to look. It's easier to digest and learn, too.  
 
The fogging has worked great though. I'm generally not a fan of spraying poison around, but I think I would take the cold over mosquitos, to be honest. Nice to get a reprieve.

I am no spring chicken myself

that you don't want to be tied to your phone for everything, just don't expect everyone else to be the same way. Our means of communicating information is always changing. Getting information from online sources is just the current method.  
 
Your going to have to adapt or miss out on information.

But people should be able to live an analog life if they so choose. Berating this person for not acquiring information through social media/online is nonsense. As per the Rogers outage, it's obviously crucial to be able to acquire information through other means, even if a majority of people use the internet.  
 
Doesn't mitigate that they likely just missed out on the radio announcements. I just don't understand why so many people are jumping on this person's personal choice to go social media free.

your going to live the analog life, just don't expect everyone else to, that's all. Just accept that your going to miss out on things. Heck with all of the media sources available, your still going miss events.

So not to come off as rude, an a-hole, and I’m not laughing at anyone just the premise….I kind of just wanted to point out the irony. I’ll be honest I find it a bit entertaining that an argument about not using electronics is being done on a social media-esque internet platform from some kind of device (tablet, phone, computer). There was a day that people thought TV and radio was too “high tech” and didn’t want to use the new fangled devices. Radio is from an electronic device many of which aren’t using analog, but are digital nowadays. Idk I think you can still not be tied to your phone/device and still be able to utilize the convenience of getting an email, using google to check the city pages or website or even eBrandon which is a great place to find relevant info as we are all doing for this very discussion. Just sayin….I come in peace…hope no one took offense.

They need to fog again already….I’ve been getting eaten alive already again when watering my garden in the evenings….so much for fogging. I wish they would do it weekly for awhile to get the lifecycle disrupted a bit more. I lived in Florida for 15 years - literally one giant swamp with way more rain and standing water = perfect mosquito conditions - but they fogged regularly and we didn’t have half the mosquitoes we have here!

Why must people justify their posts and comments ?This is a public forum to ask questions ( it has been very helpful in that aspect for me ), share opinions and not be fearful of repremand.

Kinda ironic that you are the one who has posted 4 times trying to justify your points. Also ironic that you refuse to follow social media or be glued to electronics, but have had time to make 4 posts on the internet. All 4 times could’ve been 4 times to take a quick peek at City of Brandon to get information on upcoming events. You do not need to be glued to electronics to seek info. Takes 5 mins in the evening to check daily reports. You asked where to find info, and people explained where such information can be found. Keeping informed is up to you, it’s no one else’s responsibility.  
My 82 year old in-laws even know where to quickly check info and not be tied to technology all day. Takes no longer than checking a newspaper, and no different if you treat it as such.

Just bizarre.

Looks like mosquito counts are high enough to fog again! Higher than 1000 over 2 consecutive counts. Are we going to see this so we can enjoy the rest of the summer?

I would like to know how much impact on pollinating insects that fogging our cities and towns causes? After all this is done purely to make our life more comfortable but should we ask ourselves if mass fogging is socially acceptable as we strive to become more sustainable and improve biodiversity.

I have seen more bees in the last two weeks than I saw before fogging.
