Every position is different, but job postings in the classifieds on average do sound like they get great response which leads to many employers taking their ad off once they've found what they're looking for.
Two main reasons that we dont have a resume listing system:
- the previous point that the current system is great at connecting employers to candidates, evidenced by the 1000+ views on many jobs and the feedback I regularly hear from employers
- resume storing involves storing a lot of sensitive private information in a database. As folks get more and more sensitive to how their personal information is stored and shared you're going to find that they want control over specificly who has their info and to tailor their info to the exact job theyre applying for. That and it doesn't matter who the provider is, the possibility of hacks is very real and getting more and more pronounced as time goes on. Imagine the gold mine it would be to a hacker to have a trove of potentially thousands of peoples private lives. This is the same reason why I dont store credit card numbers or member account passwords in the database even when using practices to ensure a high level of security.
The one tip I'd pass along that came out of a converstation I actually had with someone earlier this week..... As an employer its a good idea to put thought into being specific on exactly how you'd like to receive resumes. If wanting resumes mailed, dropped off in person or emailed to a specific address be sure to say that if you dont want resumes to be pasted into the contact form on ads. And of course if your position requires a very specific skillset, make sure you spell that out in as great of detail as possible to make sure that folks replying are the best match possible to what you're looking for. Best of luck!
