Snorkeling

Can anyone help me figure out what kind of snorkel gear would be a good investment and where to get it? I saw sets at Canadian Tire but I'm curious to know if they would be good quality or not. We are wanting to take our own gear to Cuba so we are not subjected to time limits in regards to equipment use.
